So You Want To Learn Astrology?
An 8 Week Introduction to the Language of the Stars

Dive into the wisdom and language of the cosmos in this 8-week foundational course. You will learn about the signs, planets, houses, aspects, rulerships, and learn valuable methods to help you grow in your astrology knowledge. This course is for beginners and intermediate astrologers. If you are new this will build the foundational blocks for the language of astrology. If you have understanding of the language already this will fill in many gaps for you!
Handouts will be included and every class there will be a Q&A section. You can join for the whole series or for individual classes if you desire. This series is hosted virtually by Aquarian Bookshop and will be presented virtually via Zoom. You will receive more information upon registration.
Week 1 (May 20th) – Introduction & Personal Planets: An introduction to the subject of astrology, its uses, various approaches, why it works, and a brief history. We will cover the meaning and significations of the luminaries (Sun & Moon) as well as the other Personal Planets (Mercury, Venus, & Mars). What are the associations with each planet? We will delve a little into the mythology of the Gods and Goddesses as well to add a deeper dimension to your understanding of the planets.
Week 2 (May 27th) - Outer Planets: We will cover the meaning and significations of the rest of the traditional planets (Jupiter & Saturn) as well as the modern planets (Uranus, Neptune, Pluto). What are the associations with each of these planets? We will delve a little into the mythology of the Gods and Goddesses as well to add a deeper dimension to your understanding of the planets. We will dive into the distinction between traditional and modern planets.
Week 3 (Jun 3rd) – Signs: In this class you will learn the archetypes and the meanings of each of the 12 signs. You will also learn about the elements used in western astrology (fire, earth, air, water), the sign qualities (cardinal, fixed, & mutable), and the polarities (feminine and masculine).
Week 4 (Jun 10th) – Houses: In this class you will learn about the meanings and significations of each of the 12 houses. You will also learn about the importance of the angles in the chart that indicate about someone’s personality, roots, relationships, and career. We will also cover the meanings of the house distinctions (angular, sucedent, cadent) and learn about various house systems, especially the common quadrant-based (Placidus, Koch, Porphyry, etc.) versus whole sign houses.
Week 5 (Jun 17th) – Rulerships (Signs, Houses, & Planets): Every sign has a planet that rules it. Houses have ruling planets as well. In this class you will learn sign rulerships, how to determine house rulerships, and dispositors (planets ruling over other planets). We will also cover the signs that each planet is stronger or weaker in (dignities and debilities).
Week 6 (Jun 24th) - Aspects Part I: In this class you will learn how the way the planets are configured in the zodiac paints the story of how these energies relate to each other in your life. In Part I we will especially focus upon the aspects of conjunctions, squares, and oppositions. You will learn easy techniques for how to quickly identify what aspects are being made and give a quick interpretation.
Week 7 (Jul 1st) - – Aspects Part II: In this class you will learn how the way the planets are configured in the zodiac paints the story of how these energies relate to each other in your life. In Part II we will especially focus upon sextiles, trines, and quincunxes. We will also introduce planetary phases and cycles. You will learn easy techniques for how to quickly identify what aspects are being made and give a quick interpretation.
Week 8 (Jul 15th) - – Putting It All Together: What does it mean to have Mercury in Aries in the 7th house? What happens when that is sextiled by the Moon in the 9th and squared by Saturn from the 4th? In this class you’ll learn how to synthesize planets, signs, houses, and aspects and derive meaning and understanding from these infinite possible combinations! There will be a large Q&A section during this class as we wrap up this introductory series.
